About Mongar Tshechu

Mongar Dzong holds a three day long Tshechu every year in its courtyard. Devotees from nearby district gather at the courtyard of the Dzong to witness the masked dances which are accompanied by cultural dances to entertain the onlookers. Masked dances are a significant part of religious culture in Bhutan and followers believe that a person is liberated upon witnessing the sacred masked dances. People dress in their finest attires and pack lunches to watch the dances.
