About Druk Wangyel Tshechu

The Druk Wangyel Tshechu is a unique festival performed by the Royal Bhutan Army rather than monks or lay people, which was established in 2011 to commemorate victory of the Fourth Druk Gyelpo and the arm forces in 2003. The soldiers have been given three months training in folk and mask dance. It is a tribute to the wise leadership of His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Fourth King of Bhutan.
